Replacing a fuse

Even if you are a woman and you know nothing about repairing; you can do some part of car repairing. All you need is to know what is wrong with your car and what is needed to fix it. One of DIY car repairs is replacing a fuse; following are few tips which help you to repair your car on your own.

  • Car fuse is small but an important part of a car. When fuse blows out, it does not create big crisis but it makes some part of the car unable to work. With blown fuses, your car will not start or be missing an imperative operational device such as windshield wipers or headlights.
  • If you want to change fuse of your car, first of all you need to purchase a complete new set of fuses from any auto part supply store along with fuse pullers also. Fuse pullers will help you to grasp the fuses tightly while changing. When something of your car is not working properly; first check whether fuse is blown. If they are blown, you need to replace them.
  • Firstly park your car and switch off your car’s ignition. There shouldn’t be any flow of electricity during fuse check. Fuse panels are generally located under a cover below the steering wheel. First remove the cover, there will be a fuse diagram printed on it. There will be different colors showing different ratings. If you have some problem in finding a fuse box, then check car manual. Then remove the cover for access of fuse panel.
  • After that check which fuses are blown and then place new fuses in their places, one by one, with exactly the same amperage rating in the puller. While replacing, check color and number stamped on the fuse. A wrong fuse may damage your car. After replacing all fuses, check whether your car is working properly or not. Even if after replacement, your car is not working properly then it should be checked by mechanic.
