Everyone needs to be careful while driving alone, but when it comes to women, they should be doubly vigilant. Women, who drive alone, need to be extra safety measures whether it is night or a day. When woman drives alone, she faces many problems apart from car crashes such as – abduction, carjacking and many more.
So if you are a woman driving alone late night or in an unknown area, you need to take some precaution for your safety.
Following are few tips which will help you to have a safe ride:
- Keep your car keys handy, if you are leaving any building like malls or office; be careful in parking, as parking is haven for all types of criminals. Make sure that your keys are in your hand and you can quickly remove your car from parking.
- Avoid driving alone at late night, in unknown areas. If the area is unfamiliar to you, there could be more chances of you getting lost and becoming a target as a potential victim. So try to avoid driving alone in the dark.
- Before leaving home, make sure your cell phone is fully charged. You can also install a car charger, so that you can charge your cell in car. This will help you to contact, if you get lost in an unknown area, the nearest police station or your close ones.
- If you get stuck into some problem, stay in your car itself, until and unless help arrives. If someone offers a help, tell them help is one the way. Try to avoid taking ride from stranger, no matter how friendly that person seems. Always keep an emergency kit, water and some snacks in your car.
- If you are going for long trip, try to take someone else with you. Before going on long trip make sure your car is well maintained and serviced. This will reduce the chances of breakdown.
- Always let someone knows; where you are going, which route you are taking and by what time you are expected to arrive. This will help you stay in touch with them during your journey.
- If you notice any car following you, keep your car on busy street, take more turns and twists. If the other car is still following your car, drive your car to nearest police station or to a convenience center.
